Arlene Yalcin holds a Master of Education with an emphasis in TESOL, a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, a TESOL Certificate, and a Bachelor of Arts in Japanese.
Professor Yalcin has served as a full-time ESL instructor for nearly 30 years. She has taught at all levels and in all skill areas of English language instruction to a wide variety of international students in Intensive English Programs.
Professor Yalcin has also been a teacher trainer in both long-term TESOL and short-term TEFL programs, working as a master teacher and instructor for Writing Methodologies. Her expertise is in teaching academic reading and writing, focusing on the skills required for students success at the undergraduate level. She has developed curriculum and taught writing in a University Preparation Program. She has served as a Writing Skills Coordinator, collaborating with the Academic Coordinator and other Skills Coordinators to improve and support instruction for International Education Programs. Professor Yalcin has been a member of hiring committees and teacher advisory committees. She is a TESOL and CATESOL association member.
