Professor Nainoa has a BA in Social Science/History and a MA in Communications (Annenberg School) both from the University of Southern California as well as Associate degrees in Business and General Education from Oxnard College. He is a graduate of the USC Marshall School of Business Advanced Management Program and an alumnus of the Walt Disney Leadership Institute. He is a Certified Diversity Professional from the National Diversity Council as well as a DISC Personality Profile Assessment facilitator.

Professor Nainoa has co-written and published several articles on communications, leadership, and customer service and presented on diversity and inclusion issues at various conferences as well as providing DISC Personality Profile Assessments for numerous organizations and companies.

Professor Nainoa has served as an adjunct faculty member, lead faculty and area chair as well as a curriculum developer and content area expert for undergraduate programs. He has taught classes in Academic Writing, Critical Thinking, Communications, History, Diversity and Inclusion as well as professional development courses.

Professor Nainoa is also a board member on the Diversity Recruiters Network which helps organizations and corporations hire diverse, quality candidates. He has held various management and leadership positions at the University of Southern California, Bell Atlantic and Verizon Communications. Professor Nainoa proudly volunteers for Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics and Corazon.
