Dr. Shimeka Bruton holds a Ph.D. in Global Leadership and Change from Pepperdine University. She has a Master of Public Administration degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She has a certification in Human Resources Management that focuses on communication dynamics, establishing human resource systems, and labor and employment law.

Dr. Bruton is the author of Exploring Cuba’s Minimum Wage Standard Reforms. She has conducted presentations abroad and her areas of research include Exploring the Relationship Between Global Assignments and Career Advancement, Federal Minimum Wage Standards, Millennials in the Workplace, and The Benefits of Studying Abroad.

As a professional, she has extensive Human Resources experience. She is an expert in employment law, recruitment, and employee relations. She has experience in the education and the retail industry and has worked for Whole Foods Market, Pepperdine University, California State University, Dominguez Hills, and Bryman College. She is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM), Professionals in Human Resources Association (PIHRA), and the International Leadership Association (ILA).
