Associate Professor Rachel Garvin is excited to be a part of the Westcliff family and a mentor as students work towards their academic goals. Ms. Garvin attended California State University, San Bernardino for her Bachelor’s and Credential Program, enjoying the opportunity to observe and student teach in the same community that she is a product of. During her undergraduate years, she worked as a nanny, studied abroad in Guanajuato, Mexico, and was the president of Sigma Pi Alpha Sorority. Ms. Garvin enjoys the richness that learning a second language has added to her life and seeks to instill this desire in her students of all ages. Though her graduate work began in Bilingual Education, it was completed in TESOL. Currently teaching 4th grade in the Inland Empire, Ms. Garvin finds value in working with an underprivileged population that includes many English Language Learners. In addition to her Multiple Subject Credential, Ms. Garvin has a Bilingual Authorization and a GATE Certificate from the University of California Riverside. She is an active member of PEO, several district committees, and serves as site representative for her local teacher’s union. Belief in hard work, creativity, and perseverance drive her career and personal life.
