Cooking Chips: Warriors Claim Cal Pac Glory

The Westcliff men’s basketball team, who finished their final unaffiliated season with four wins and twenty-four losses in 2020, won the California Pacific Conference championship on the last day of February 2023. Head coach Jerred Cook, who was an assistant coach on that four-win team three seasons ago, played a significant role in the turnaround of the team.

This year, the team made history and will play in their first NAIA National Championship Tournament on March 7 or 8. The Warriors won the championship with a 65-54 win over UC Merced at Bell Bank Park at Legacy Fields in Mesa, Arizona. The team has become character-rich and resilient, and their success is attributed to the development of the players by the coaching staff. The team is set to make even more history, with the NAIA selection show on Thursday at 5 p.m.
