Dr. Jorge Cardenas Named Dean of the College of Business at Westcliff University
Westcliff University has appointed Dr. Jorge Cardenas as Dean of the College of Business, bringing globally informed leadership and a focus on applied learning to one of the university’s largest academic divisions.
Dr. Cardenas joins the college with extensive experience in higher education, having served as a professor, department chair and assistant dean. Raised in San Diego along the U.S.–Mexico border, he developed an early understanding of cross-border collaboration and international education. His father’s work leading distance learning initiatives throughout Latin America, along with government leadership roles in Baja California, shaped his perspective on how organizations operate across cultures, regulatory systems and economic environments.
“Dr. Cardenas brings a powerful combination of academic leadership, global insight and commitment to applied learning,” said Dr. Anthony Lee, president and CEO of Westcliff University.
Under his direction, the College of Business will continue strengthening experiential learning and industry alignment across its undergraduate, MBA and DBA programs.
“Graduate business education today has to be applied,” Dr. Cardenas said. “Students need to understand how decisions are made in real organizations, under real constraints, with real consequences.”
