Five Years, One Vision, One Title: Westcliff Surf Reaches No. 1 in the Nation
Five years after becoming the first university in the nation to offer surf scholarships, Westcliff University has officially reached the top of collegiate surfing.
The Warriors captured their first-ever National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) Collegiate National Championship, defeating nine-time defending champion Point Loma Nazarene University at Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point. The historic victory caps off a remarkable rise for a program that has steadily climbed the national rankings while helping redefine what collegiate surfing can be through unprecedented support, scholarships, and athlete development.
Led by Head Coach and Westcliff alumnus Lucas Taub, the championship run featured standout performances from veteran leaders and rising stars alike, including Taylor Stacy’s third consecutive individual national title and impressive national finals appearances from freshmen Titus Kaimana Santucci and Jackson Taylor. The achievement marks a milestone not only for Westcliff Surf, but for the future of collegiate surfing itself.
